I’m so excited about what I’m about to share for 2 reasons. 1) I had the opportunity to interview a good friend of mine and 2) you get to hear a great testimony of the amazing success my friend has had in treating her son with Type 1 Diabetes, with a LCHF diet. If you aren’t familiar with what the LCHF diet is you can read my article here. To hear the interview click on the play button below.
A quick note on how LCHF helps with Diabetes
Carbohydrates in any form keep our bodies fuelled by glucose and consequently the more glucose we produce the higher insulin levels have to be produced to keep our blood sugars balanced and stable. The more carbs, the more insulin, the harder our bodies have to work. Type 1 Diabetes is genetic and is when the immune system destroys the beta cells of the Pancreas that produce insulin, eventually leading to no insulin production. Type 2 Diabetes is where there is little insulin produced in the body or the body is unable to use the insulin. Type 2 is not immune related and is usually brought on by diet and can often begin with what is called Insulin Resistance. Both types of Diabetes as well as Insulin Resistance can be treated using a LCHF diet.
The highlights of the interview for me were:
- The pros and cons – Â Even though Amanda and Simon did not feel great, they could still see evidence that their bodies were responding in a positive way.
- The reality of transitioning from an “all in moderation diet” to a LCHF diet with a family.
- The proof and ultimately the success of stabilising Jackson’s blood sugar through the LCHF diet and therefore being able to reduce the insulin needed and providing a more stable and normal lifestyle.
The book Amanda mentions in the interview is available here
