Weight loss…love it or hate it
If only there was a pill, tonic, etc that would make the process of losing weight EeeeeeZzzzzY!! Ha! No such thing right? Maybe not. I have discovered a key that I classify up there under the term “Magic”. Let me share a bit of my story.
Up until I was 47 weight was never an issue for me. I had been a stick growing up (whether that had to do with my onslaught of illness as a child or whether I just had a super fast metabolism) and it only changed slowly as I got older with me weighing approximately 52 kgs at the age of 46. Nuh I didn’t have to worry about weight, right? WRONG! So did it come as a jaw dropping surprise when I realized that as the next 18 months went along I started to squeeze out of my size 8 and 10 dresses and found myself buying extra large t-shirts and smock type styles to cover the increasing bulge that once was a stomach.
I suddenly stopped and took a hard look at the fact that I had been growing slowly by approximately a kilo a month to the ripe size of 65 kilo’s. Not happy Jan!! I argued, rationalized, justified, analyzed and finally succumbed to the reality that all was not well with my metabolic rate.
So off to work I went. Reading up on exercise, diets, how metabolic rates slowed and how to kick start them. I discovered Weight Watchers which worked for awhile but stopped due to financial reasons. I was still trying to grasp what actually happens when you reach a certain age and hormone levels start to dance around all over the place. So I did what a lot of others did and “try out” diets, eating plans etc for about 2 years.
I was exercising but not enough. I was tired and craving foods that would pick me up. I craved carbs, pasta, home baking and breads. All the things that offer nothing nutritionally and leave you feeling empty and craving more. And so the cycle continues.
Using Coconut Oil For Weight Loss
Fortunately I had been using Extra Virgin Coconut Oil for about 4 years but not for weight loss. Do you think I could get my head around this one? Using a fat to help with weight loss. Well according to all the books and information I was reading that’s exactly what was being said.
And this is where I say to you if you can get this one thing you will be blessed as it truly is the “magic” ingredient that most diets do not contain.
Coconut Oil is primarily a medium-chain fatty acid or MCFA, for short. Because of this, it is broken down immediately for use rather than stored (which is how cholesterol builds up). MCFA’s aren’t bundled up into chylomicrons for circulation like LCFA’s or long-chain fatty acids. What happens upon intake is that these MCFA’ s are transported to the liver for conversion into energy. The quick conversion process prevents weight gain as long as calories consumed as Coconut oil does not exceed the body’s natural caloric needs. Not only that, but this particular type of oil is found to speed metabolism and increase energy expenditure, which gives rise to a great deal of interest for Coconut oil’s potential as an aid to help you lose weight.
Our bodies need fat! Can you believe that! Not only is coconut oil good for weight loss but will give you so many more health benefits.
I’d love to hear any success stories you have had with weight loss so be sure to leave a comment.
