Coconut oil melts at about 24 degrees C (76 degrees F)becoming a clear liquid that looks like most any other vegetable oil. Below this temperature, coconut oil will go solid and takes on a creamy white appearance. At moderate room temperatures it has a soft buttery texture and is sometimes called coconut butter. If your kitchen is cooler than 24 degrees C (76 degrees F) the oil will solidify. To liquefy the oil, simply immerse the bottom of the jar in hot water for a couple of minutes. The oil melts fairly quickly.
