Banaban Products from Nature Pacific

I’ve added another preferred supplier to my list for coconut oil and products. Banaban products from Nature Pacific are not only good value for money but there delivery and online service is second to none.

Here’s a brief overview of some of their products that I’ve tried and tested. Look out for the interview with A Current Affair on Channel Nine sometime early 2013.

Banaban Virgin Coconut Oil

This is the size I like to buy as 5 litres seems to last me a good quantity of time. This link will give you a quick overview of how they make their Virgin Coconut Oil. This oil is definitely raw in comparison to others that I have used – such as Niulife. But raw is good. It simply means that it’s only been through 1 pressing and retains a high lauric acid content which is good. However if you are not particularly keen on the smell or taste of coconut then you might want to try the new “Gournet” Organic Virgin Coconut Oil. This oil is more refined and higher heat is used during pressing so that the taste and smell are removed. The lauric acid is lower but it is still a Virgin Coconut Oil and has no trans fats.

Banaban Organic Coconut Nectar Syrup -

As described at naturepacific.com – Called Ka maimai by the Banabans people. It is a 100% totally natural sweetener made of pure and fresh coconut sap. To make Coconut Sugar from the Coconut Nectar Syrup (Ka maimai) the sap is boiled until it becomes increasingly more concentrated and sweeter right up to the point where the liquid has completely evaporated. When completely dry, sugar type crystals have formed that are approximately 85% sucrose, 3% fructose and 2% glucose (fructose and glucose are know together as invert sugars) with a light to dark brown color and the characteristic coconut sugar flavor.

I have found this syrup to be a great replacement for vanilla essence in baking as well as adding to smoothies and homemade ice cream.

Banaban Amino Seasoning -

Banaban Amino Seasoning offers a healthy Soy Sauce alternative . Made from 100% natural coconut nectar and fermented and aged with sea salt. There is no added preservative, adulterants or any additives. It is gluten free, cane sugar free and MSG free. It contains 17 naturally occurring amino acids with important minerals such as potassium, sodium and magnesium.

Use for any asian food recipe or as a marinade or sauce for meat, chicken or vegetables. It has a hint of sweetness and adds a great depth of flavour to stir frys and soups.

Banaban Cacao (Chocolate) Coconut Spread

This delightful spread is made from nutritious Coconut Milk, Ground Cacao powder and Coconut Sugar. There are no added artificial preservatives, adulterants or any kind of additives. It’s everything you want in a spread – chocolatey, creamy and sweet coconut all in one jar. Great for spreading on crackers, bread or waffles. This product has a low glycemic index (GI) of 35.

Banaban Coconut Flake Cereal

Banaban Coconut Flake Cereal is made from matured dehydrated fresh coconut that has been defatted and lightly toasted to produce a white to light brown crunchy flake. It’s particularly high in fibre (71%) and Protein (14%) and contains all the trace minerals found in the coconut. Great to use in baking and desserts. Add it to a grain free granola or eat it straight from the pack as a snack.

Totally natural, Banaban Organic Coconut Crunch comes from the air-dried coconut flesh after the extra virgin coconut oil has been removed. The dried coconut flesh retains a rich nutty coconut taste and crunchy texture. Great to add to smoothies and baking or try it on top of yogurt or with a grain free granola.
